XRP Social Sentiment Turns Negative. Here’s What It Means to Price

Social sentiment around XRP has collapsed to its lowest point since July.

For most investors, that reads as a warning sign, but Ali Martinez (@alicharts), a well-known analyst, sees it differently. He drew attention to the trend in a recent post, one day after he gave the community a buy signal.

XRP is trading at $1.18, down 9.3% on the day, as post-midterm election pressure drags the crypto market lower. The selloff has turned crowd psychology sharply negative, and Martinez thinks that shift may be telling investors something they’re not expecting to hear.

XRP SOCIAL SENTIMENT TURNS NEGATIVE

The crowd is becoming increasingly bearish on $XRP, with social sentiment dropping to its lowest level since July.

But from a contrarian perspective, this could actually be constructive.

Sentiment Drops Sharply

Data from Santiment shows XRP social sentiment turning deeply negative around November 4. Martinez shared the chart, which tracks daily sentiment scores. The bars moved from positive territory in late October to their lowest reading since July, with the most recent bar sitting near -0.04 to -0.05.

The drop was steep and fast. Sentiment didn’t grind lower gradually. It fell hard over just a few days, coinciding with the results from the midterm election.

Is it a Contrarian Signal?

Martinez isn’t alarmed by the negative readings. He describes the crowd as “increasingly bearish” on XRP but argues the trade hasn’t become overcrowded on the downside. His post states that XRP “appears to be developing a potential inverse head-and-shoulders bottom,” a technical pattern associated with bullish reversals.

The key detail in his analysis is that the crowd hasn’t recognized the setup yet. As Martinez put it, “the bullish trade may not be overcrowded yet.” In contrarian analysis, that is often when a setup carries the most potential.

He Wants Investors to Buy

The timing of Martinez’s sentiment post carries context. Just one day before sharing the chart, he told investors it was time to buy XRP. The subsequent dip to $1.18 hasn’t changed his position. The deepening negative sentiment reinforces the contrarian case he was already building.

For investors who followed that call, the current price represents a steeper entry point than yesterday. However, this could be a buying opportunity if the technical pattern Martinez identified holds.

What the Setup Requires

An inverse head-and-shoulders pattern needs confirmation. The structure forms with three troughs, the middle one being the deepest. Price must then break above the neckline, a horizontal resistance level connecting the highs between the troughs, with volume before the pattern is considered valid.

Martinez has not specified the exact neckline level for XRP’s current formation, but the pattern he describes requires the price to stabilize and push higher from current levels. A failure to hold support puts the setup in question.
