XRP Is A Falling Knife: Expert Says Find Out How Low It Could Go

XRP has become what analyst Austin Hilton calls “a falling knife” as it trades at $1.15. It is down nearly 3% while the broader crypto market has turned bearish. Bitcoin sits at $75,000, and many XRP holders are asking how much further this can go.

Sentiment Tells the Story

Hilton says the current market environment carries “extremely bearish” sentiment. He identifies a specific structural problem: bullish liquidity is essentially absent. Investors with capital who would normally push prices higher are holding back, and XRP has continued falling.

The bearish side is not fighting much resistance. That imbalance is what has XRP under sustained pressure. Hilton has publicly stated across multiple videos that XRP reaching the $1 range is a real possibility. At $1.15, that level is no longer a distant scenario.

What the 200-Day Moving Average Shows

One technical signal stands out in Hilton’s analysis. XRP is currently trading below its 200-day moving average, which sits at $1.25. Historically, Hilton notes, buying XRP when it trades below that average has not been a poor entry point.

He does not dismiss the possibility of further downside. For long-term holders, he says the difference between buying at $1.20 versus $1.90 becomes less significant with a future target of $3, $4, or $5. A $0.20 to $0.30 spread in acquisition price is not a substantial variable in that scenario.

Short-Term Signals in the Chart

Hilton’s chart analysis identifies buy signals appearing at this price level. He references historical moves following similar signals. One period saw a 44% gain over 39 days. Another produced a 48% gain in 22 days. A 13% gain came in a 19-day window. However, these moves are not guaranteed.

He notes that no sell signal has appeared at current levels, which he treats as a constructive data point. The chart, in his view, suggests XRP may be near a bottom. He says: “I think we are close to the bottom from XRP charting standpoint and with all the other assets.”

Two Types of Investors

Hilton separates the conversation into two investor types. The first buys and holds through volatility with a long time horizon. For that investor, the precise entry price at current levels carries limited consequence.

The second seeks short-term gains and needs cleaner timing. For that investor, technical signals become more relevant, as historical data shows XRP has produced meaningful percentage moves within defined windows when signals align.
