XRP Ledger Lending Amendment Approaches Activation
Digital Asset Investor reported that the XRP Ledger Lending Amendment had secured two additional yes votes, bringing the proposal closer to its required approval threshold. He explained that the amendment needed eight more affirmative votes before it could enter the two-week activation period.
He described the proposal as a major development for unlocking capital and liquidity on the network. The lending functionality could give institutional and retail participants additional ways to access credit and use digital assets within financial arrangements.
The commentator also discussed Ripple’s collaboration with DBS. Their work explores how tokenization can support practical financial activities, including liquidity in repo markets and collateral-based yield generation. He presented these developments alongside the lending proposal as examples of how financial institutions continue to explore new uses for digital assets.
Ripple Expands Its Institutional Financial Services
The video featured Ripple’s Reece Merrick discussing the company’s expansion beyond cross-border payments. He explained that Ripple now provides digital asset custody technology to financial institutions, including DBS, HSBC and BBVA.
Merrick also discussed RLUSD, placing its market capitalization at approximately $2.5 billion. He described the stablecoin’s institutional growth as one of Ripple’s major milestones and emphasized the company’s focus on regulated financial markets.
He identified the United Arab Emirates as an important region for Ripple, citing its regulatory environment and increasing adoption among financial institutions. Merrick added that greater regulatory coordination across the Gulf Cooperation Council region could accelerate digital asset adoption.
Market Declines And XRP Short Positions
Beyond developments in the digital asset industry, Digital Asset Investor examined the broader financial market downturn. He referenced reports that global stock markets had lost more than $3.7 trillion in market value and noted that cryptocurrencies had also experienced significant declines.
During the recording, XRP traded around $1.18. Despite the negative market conditions, the commentator explained that he views major price declines as opportunities to accumulate assets. He also revealed that he purchased SpaceX shares during the sell-off, describing his approach to investing during periods of market weakness.
He subsequently examined XRP trading positions on Bitfinex. The figures he presented showed short positions declining from approximately 468 million XRP to 81.4 million XRP, an 83% reduction from their peak.
Dom Kwok Maintains His $1,000 XRP Prediction
Digital Asset Investor also addressed Dom Kwok’s forecast that XRP could reach $1,000 by 2030. After ChartNerd questioned whether the prediction remained achievable, Kwok maintained his position, responding that he did not consider it his responsibility to convince those who could not see the possibility.
The video concluded with concerns about quantum computing and its potential impact on blockchain security. He urged viewers to update their devices and wallet software regularly to strengthen their security.
