Permission Granted to Sell 5,833 Bitcoin: $450 Million Worth of BTC Could Enter the Market! Here Are the Details

Next Technology Holding, which is traded on Nasdaq, has received board approval to sell or use as collateral approximately $450 million worth of Bitcoin assets to raise funds.

Japanese software company Next Technology Holding has received board approval to sell some or all of the approximately 5,833 Bitcoins it holds on its balance sheet. The total market value of these Bitcoins at the time of this news is estimated at approximately $449 million.

The decision does not definitively mean that the Bitcoins have been sold or that the sale will begin on a specific date. The company’s CEO, Weihong Liu, will have the authority to decide on the timing, size, and price of the transactions. Under the approval, cryptocurrencies can be sold on exchanges, transferred through private agreements, or used as collateral to provide Bitcoin-backed financing.

The company cited the $6.3 billion attack on Binance, security vulnerabilities in cryptocurrency exchanges, and the potential threat that quantum computers could pose to Bitcoin’s encryption system in the future as reasons for its decision. Next Technology specifically stated that none of its Bitcoin holdings are stored through Binance.

The figures on the company’s balance sheet reveal a striking discrepancy. Based on Friday’s closing price of NXTT shares, Next Technology’s total market capitalization is approximately $7.8 million. The value of its reported Bitcoin holdings, however, is more than 50 times the company’s stock market value.

Next Technology made its largest purchase of 5,000 BTC in March 2025. The company recorded a total cost of $158.1 million for these assets, including shares, warrants, and prior cash payments. The average purchase price was approximately $31,600.

The company says that the majority of the Bitcoins are held in institutional custodians based in Japan. However, the names of the custodians and the wallet addresses that would allow for independent verification of the balances were not disclosed. Therefore, investors will closely monitor both potential selling decisions and the verifiability of the assets.
