David Schwartz Writes Open Letter to XRP Army. Here’s why

Ripple CTO Emeritus David Schwartz is drawing a hard line for the XRP community, and it applies to supporters just as much as critics.

He wrote an open letter to the community laying out exactly how he expects them to engage with him, and what happens when they don’t.

The post comes amid heavy criticism directed at both Schwartz and Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse. But the message goes beyond responding to critics. He is also asking his own supporters to change their behavior.

Recently, there's been a significant increase in people responding to replies of mine that have nothing to do with crypto with insults or crypto content. I hate to do it, but I pretty much have to block for this because otherwise the people I'm replying to have no choice but to…

David Schwartz Message to the Community

Schwartz opened by noting a rise in replies to his posts that have nothing to do with the topic he is discussing. People use his threads to insult him or push irrelevant crypto content. He says he has to block those accounts, because ignoring them means they spam the followers of whoever he is replying to.

He also addressed fraud and scam accusations. He wrote that he does not mind people “criticizing me or accusing me so long as it doesn’t reduce to slurs and has some actual content.” His condition is that it stays relevant and appears in an appropriate thread.

The Stalking Concern

This is where the post moves into less familiar territory. Schwartz described a specific behavior he finds unacceptable. Some accounts follow him across the platform and inject XRP-related comments into unrelated conversations.

Even something as positive as “XRP is great!” becomes a problem when it appears in a thread where he is discussing something else. It disrupts the people he is replying to, and he will not tolerate it going forward.

This is not simply about handling critics. Schwartz is saying he wants people to stay out of his conversations unless they belong there. His privacy and his ability to engage on the platform without being trailed are both part of this.

XRP Army Reacts

The responses were mixed. One user suggested a constructive solution, recommending that Schwartz host a weekly post inviting new ecosystem members to introduce themselves. Schwartz responded positively to that idea.

Another community member noted that Schwartz’s lack of responses to people is part of why they kept pushing. This echoes this sentiment shared by many in the community who feel ignored, and is more pressing now as XRP’s price struggles.

Schwartz Leaves the Door Open

Schwartz ended on a calmer note. He told anyone who was blocked and is willing to stop the behavior to find a way to reach him. He said he will unblock them, and he holds no personal hatred toward his critics. He just wants engagements to stay on topic and the harassment to stop.
