XRP Ledger Targets November 4 Activation for Major Network Cleanup Upgrade

Summary
- XRP Ledger’s fixCleanup3_4_0 amendment targets November 4 activation, introducing improvements across token transactions, decentralized trading, and network account management functions.
- Developers are preparing fixCleanup3_5_0 to address authorization loopholes affecting regulated digital assets, with implementation requiring separate approval from network validators.
- XRPL Foundation warns node operators about a critical Linux vulnerability, urging affected administrators to install security patches and reboot systems.
The XRP Ledger (XRPL) is nearing a major technical milestone as its fixCleanup3_4_0 amendment approaches mainnet activation. The upgrade improves decentralized finance applications, asset management, and transaction processing.
According to XRPSCAN, activation could occur on November 4, 2026, at 2:46 PM UTC, subject to sustained validator approval, bringing several technical improvements to the network.
The amendment addresses issues involving Single Asset Vaults, Automated Market Makers, NFTs, Escrow, and Multi-Purpose Tokens, alongside improvements to transaction signing, sponsorship, trust lines, and permission delegation.
XRP Ledger Validators Prepare for November 4 Network Upgrade
Network validators must maintain at least 80% support for two consecutive weeks before implementing the amendment. Any interruption to this approval period could delay the scheduled rollout.
Separately, developers are working on fixCleanup3_5_0, another proposed amendment addressing authorization requirements for regulated digital assets. Certain tokens require issuer approval before accounts can receive them, particularly stablecoins and tokenized investment products. Developers discovered exceptions that could allow transactions to bypass these restrictions.
Four proposed code changes aim to eliminate those gaps and strengthen compliance controls within the blockchain’s token infrastructure. Unlike the scheduled cleanup amendment, fixCleanup3_5_0 has not entered the main software codebase. Its implementation requires code integration and a separate validator voting process.
XRPL Foundation Warns Node Operators About Critical Linux Vulnerability
Meanwhile, XRP Ledger Foundation community director Hussein Zangana, known as Vet, alerted infrastructure operators to a critical Linux kernel vulnerability.
According to Zangana, the vulnerability affects unpatched Linux servers running kernel versions 4.4 and later with exposed IPv4 TCP ports, prompting operators using RHEL 8, 9, and 10, Debian 12 and 13, Amazon Linux, and Oracle UEK to install available security fixes and reboot their systems.
There's a critical Linux kernel vulnerability on kernels 4.4+, affecting any unpatched Linux server in the world with an open IPv4 TCP port.
🧵 For XRP Ledger node and validator operators:
If you run RHEL 8/9/10, Debian 12/13, Amazon Linux and Oracle UEK then there's a fix…
— Vet (@Vet_X0) November 2, 2026
Ubuntu, AlmaLinux, Rocky Linux, and CentOS Stream administrators may need additional safeguards until appropriate patches become available. Zangana also recommended reapplying protective nftables rules following system restarts or firewall configuration reloads.
The security advisory accompanies XRPL’s scheduled technical improvements, highlighting infrastructure maintenance requirements alongside the network’s amendment rollout.
