Trezor Urges CryptoBilis Buyers to Move Funds Immediately
Trezor has urged anyone who bought a hardware wallet from CryptoBilis from March 2026 onward and is using it to store funds to move assets to a newly created wallet with a new seed as soon as possible. The warning follows a responsible disclosure alleging a hardware implant in a Trezor Safe 5 bought through Tokopedia in August. Trezor says the report is credible but has not yet physically examined the device.
The reported implant includes an extra circuit board positioned between the main board and screen, with a cellular module and antenna. According to the disclosure, it could read information displayed on the screen, including the wallet backup, and transmit it over a mobile network. No CryptoBilis Trezor customer has reported stolen funds so far, and Trezor says its precaution applies to every Trezor model supplied by CryptoBilis, not only the Safe 5.
Trezor removed CryptoBilis as an authorized reseller on October 9 and is arranging laboratory examination of the reported device. Buyers affected by the guidance can receive a replacement device shipped directly by Trezor or a voucher toward a new one. The next key step is technical confirmation of the implant and its capabilities, while users are also being warned about potential crypto scams exploiting the incident.
