Ripple Partners With Robinhood to Expand RLUSD Use

Ripple (CRYPTO: $XRP) has partnered with Robinhood (NASDAQ: $HOOD) to expand the use of its RLUSD (CRYPTO: $RLUSD) stablecoin.

Under the agreement, RLUSD will be used to settle institutional trades, while Ripple Treasury will support Robinhood’s internal cash management. The partnership will also connect Robinhood’s institutional business with financing services through Ripple Prime and trading access through Bitstamp, the crypto exchange Robinhood acquired in 2025.

RLUSD will also be listed on Robinhood’s trading platform, giving its customers another dollar-pegged digital asset to trade, according to a Tuesday announcement.

“Utility is what moves stablecoins forward. Working with Ripple, Bitstamp and Robinhood will have access to RLUSD for institutional settlement, Ripple Treasury for our operations, and Ripple Prime for financing,” Robinhood Crypto general manager Johann Kerbrat said.

The deal comes as stablecoin issuers compete to expand beyond crypto trading. These tokens, typically pegged to currencies such as the US dollar, allow users to transfer funds and settle transactions around the clock, without relying on traditional banking hours.

Ripple is competing with Circle (NYSE: $CRCL), the issuer of USDC (CYRPTO: $USDC), which has also been building payment infrastructure around its stablecoin. Circle launched its Circle Payments Network to connect financial institutions and payment providers for cross-border transfers.

Ripple has operated its Ripple Payments business for about eight years, facilitating international money transfers using digital assets. The service supports several assets, including XRP, USDC, and RLUSD, which launched in December 2024.

RLUSD’s market capitalization has climbed above $2.5 billion, although it remains smaller than Tether’s USDT and Circle’s USDC. The broader stablecoin market has surpassed $300 billion, reflecting the growing role of dollar-pegged tokens in digital asset markets.

Last week, Robinhood Ventures Fund I invested $30 million in Erebor Bank, a newly established US lender focused on companies in artificial intelligence, defense, robotics and other technology sectors.

Robinhood shares are currently trading at $95.19 apiece, up 2.5% today.
