Huge RLUSD XRP Announcement

Ripple just made one of its biggest moves yet. At Ripple Swell 2026 in New York, the company announced a formal partnership with Coinbase. This move will bring RLUSD to the largest cryptocurrency exchange in the U.S.
Crypto commentator Digital Asset Investor discussed this development in a recent video. He called the pace and scale of announcements coming out of Swell “ridiculous.”
The Coinbase Partnership
RLUSD is now live for retail and institutional customers across Coinbase Prime, Coinbase Exchange, and the Coinbase retail app. Users can convert U.S. dollars and other supported dollar-denominated stablecoins into RLUSD at a 1:1 ratio. Deposits and withdrawals run on the XRP Ledger, Ethereum, and Coinbase’s Base network.
Support for Coinbase Global Exchange customers is coming next, including the ability to use RLUSD as collateral. This is not a limited rollout. Ripple is pushing RLUSD into every layer of the Coinbase ecosystem at once.
Ripple’s SVP of Stablecoins Jack McDonald said the partnership brings RLUSD to the largest institutional client base in the U.S., meeting institutional demand through platforms they already trust.

A Major Victory for XRP
The XRP Ledger sits at the center of this expansion. RLUSD runs natively on XRPL, and every new platform that supports the stablecoin drives activity back to the ledger. More transaction volume on XRPL strengthens the network and boosts XRP’s demand.
Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse addressed speculation at Swell 2026 that the company was shifting focus away from XRP. He said XRP and RLUSD serve complementary roles, with both supporting Ripple’s expanding blockchain payment ecosystem. The stablecoin is not replacing XRP. It is extending what the XRP Ledger can do.
Moody’s assigned RLUSD A2 long-term and P-1 short-term deposit ratings, citing the credit quality and market value of its reserve assets. A Moody’s-rated stablecoin running on the XRP Ledger signals institutional-grade credibility for the entire ecosystem.
Momentum Building at Swell
The Coinbase deal is one of several announcements coming out of Swell 2026. Ripple also expanded its Robinhood relationship, with RLUSD planned for institutional settlement on the XRP Ledger. Ripple also received final OCC approval for Ripple National Trust Bank, which will oversee certain RLUSD reserve activities.
RLUSD launched in December 2024 and has since surpassed $2.6 billion in market capitalization. Ripple expects to approach $900 million in annualized product revenue by the end of 2026.
The Coinbase partnership gives RLUSD its most visible U.S. platform to date, providing more on-chain activity and institutional exposure.
