Aave’s Horizon to Use Chainlink Weekend Prices for Tokenized U.S. Stocks

Chainlink (CRYPTO: $LINK) is rolling out a service that keeps prices for stocks, commodities and other traditional assets updating through weekends and holidays, with decentralized lender Aave (CRYPTO: $AAVE) as its launch partner, according to an announcement shared with CoinDesk.

The service, dubbed Chainlink 24/7, addresses a key gap in blockchain markets that operate around the clock while the underlying assets they track do not. During market closures, applications have had to suspend trading, rely on stale prices, or build their own pricing systems.

When traditional markets close, the service combines prices from regular and extended trading sessions with quotes from perpetual futures venues. The off-hours reference therefore reflects derivatives trading, not transactions on a closed exchange, a distinction that matters for lenders relying on the price. Chainlink said it aggregates quotes from multiple venues, filters stale inputs and limits the influence of outliers, giving applications one continuous price series per asset.

Aave is adopting the feeds for Horizon, its institutional lending platform, where qualified investors can borrow against tokenized assets. The first use will be tokenized versions of heavily traded U.S. stocks.

The launch builds on Chainlink’s weekday pricing for U.S. stocks and exchange-traded funds, introduced in January and covering pre-market, regular, post-market and overnight sessions. The company said that infrastructure now covers more than $1.6 billion in tokenized stocks.

Lending protocols can read the new prices directly on blockchains through Data Feeds, while trading platforms and prediction markets can get faster updates through Data Streams.
