Aave Enables 24/7 Pricing for Tokenized Stocks With Chainlink

TL;DR

  • Aave Horizon integrates Chainlink’s 24/7 price feeds to value tokenized real-world assets used as loan collateral, including major U.S. equities.
  • The system uses perpetual futures market data during weekends and holidays, when traditional stock exchanges are closed.
  • The integration expands institutional access to decentralized lending while maintaining eligibility requirements, collateralization rules, and risk-management safeguards.

Aave is expanding the role of tokenized equities in decentralized finance by integrating Chainlink’s 24/7 pricing infrastructure into its Horizon lending platform. The integration allows eligible institutional investors to use tokenized U.S. stocks as collateral with updated valuations even when traditional exchanges are closed.

The development addresses a structural limitation in blockchain-based financial markets. While decentralized protocols operate continuously, conventional stock exchanges follow fixed trading schedules, creating potential pricing gaps for assets that remain locked in onchain lending positions.

Chainlink 24/7 Brings Continuous Pricing to Aave Horizon

The new system combines traditional market data with prices collected from multiple perpetual futures trading venues. During regular and extended trading sessions, Chainlink relies on its existing equity pricing infrastructure. Once traditional exchanges close, the service switches to derivatives market quotes to maintain a continuous reference price.

This distinction matters because weekend valuations do not represent transactions taking place directly on stock exchanges. Instead, they reflect trading activity in perpetual futures markets linked to the underlying equities. Chainlink filters outdated information and limits the influence of unusual price movements to improve the reliability of its reference data.

The infrastructure delivers pricing through two channels. Data Feeds publish information directly onchain, making them suitable for lending protocols such as Aave. Meanwhile, Data Streams provide low-latency information and market-session details for applications requiring faster updates and more flexible risk management.

According to Chainlink’s October 29 announcement, Aave became the official launch partner for the service. Founder and CEO Stani Kulechov said continuous valuations allow institutions to manage real-world asset collateral throughout weekends and holidays.

The integration also reflects growing demand for financial infrastructure that connects traditional securities with decentralized liquidity markets.

Aave Horizon Expands Institutional Access to Tokenized Stocks

Horizon operates as a separate, licensed Aave lending market designed for institutional and qualified participants. Investors must satisfy asset issuers’ eligibility requirements, including identity verification and compliance procedures, before supplying tokenized securities as collateral.

Once approved, borrowers can access stablecoin liquidity without selling their underlying assets. Horizon identifies USDC, RLUSD and Aave’s native GHO as its primary borrowable stablecoins. Liquidity providers can supply these assets without undergoing the same issuer approval process.
